It was one of those love at first sight moments. It became an instant adoption and after two and half years of painstaking renovation, the 100 + year old farmhouse that Maggie Paterno calls her fourth child became the Orange Skye Day and Wellness Spa. As spas go, this is as unique as the renovated home where it resides. Orange Skye is an Eat, Pray, Love experience, where the Body, Mind and Soul are re-connected for healthful beauty. Again, much like this farmhouse, when you correct and restore the inside with loving attention, the visible results and the harmony you resonate are a glorious reward.
The retreat-like Orange Skye is all organic and everything is toxin free, right down to the nail polishes and disinfectants they use. It’s perfect for allergy sufferers and pregnant women who can now have a guilt free manicure, as their polishes have no formaldehyde that can harm the baby.
They also offer Ayurvedic treatments for body and skin, which is an ancient beauty and wellness method, practiced in India for thousands of years. Your skin is analyzed, then the trained staff uses ancient principles to custom formulate wellness products blended to best serve your body’s personal needs. The diverse menu of services offered at Orange Skye includes detox services, therapeutic massage, infrared treatments, ear candling, and they are continuing to expand the palette of treatments, seminar and class schedules, and broadening their outreach to new professionals and members of the community.
In honoring Women’s Health issues this October, Orange Skye is hosting their first Women’s Wellness Retreat, on Sunday, Oct. 3rd from 10am to 2pm. Orange Skye has networked with local Wellness providers including Janettje McManus, Fitness Consultant, who will start the day off with a morning walk and stretch. Linda Jensen, Nutritional Counselor will lead a discussion on seasonal cooking. Next enjoy a creative writing exercise with Mary Fowler to bring your inside voice out. Come back to center with our group guided Meditation session. Space is limited to 20 guests and reservations are required.
“This home has a very strong and definite feeling of spirituality, peace and wellness. Anyone is welcome to stop by and just experience the centered reaction you get when the door opens”, says owner-‘mother’ Maggie Paterno. “In fact, we are even beginning to allow area businesses to use space to host their own seminars and educational programs. People are just drawn to this healing energy and are receptive while here. I am so proud, like a parent, of this happy, healing place and we are open to your thoughts about new services, group sessions and classes.”
Orange Skye is celebrating their third year in business. They are in the section of Red Bank that borders Middletown, just north of the Route 35 Bridge. You can check the website at www.orangeskyespanj.com, but nothing beats an in person visit:
